Ultimately, he was diagnosed a rare blood disorder called Auto Immune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA). While he was diagnosed, the blood transfusions helped to combat the hemolysis, and was put on immunosuppressants. We know that Superman can only stay down for so long and have hopes that his kryptonite doesn’t return! 

Meet Henry Heckenberg, or as he is affectionately called, Superman Henry. Just days before his second birthday, Henrys' little body went into shock after battling a stomach bug. Doctors had a difficult time diagnosing what was causing his immune system to destroy his red blood cells. Henry stayed 40 days in the hospital; during which he received a total of 19 blood transfusions to keep him alive.
